Chase

Chase's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Chase (he/him) is a trans man from the deep south of Florida. He first came out during his freshman year of college, away from his unsupportive family. With the support of his partner and close friends, Chase began to embrace his true self and decided to pursue medically transitioning, starting with HRT.

During his senior year, Chase came out to his mother and was promptly cut off from her support. Despite this painful loss, his partner and chosen family stood by him. To make ends meet, Chase began taking art commissions while managing chronic pain and undiagnosed mental health struggles, frequent hospital visits, the weight of student loans, and the challenge of finding steady work.

Chase is an artist and storyteller at heart. He works on a webcomic with an (almost) all queer and trans cast, and is beginning his career as a drag king. He also loves playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends. For Chase, storytelling, whether through art, fantasy, or lived experience, is essential: “Our stories need to be told, whatever form they take. Everyone has their own story, and they all deserve to be shared.”

Receiving HRT support means Chase can finally begin to align his body with his identity. He is excited for the changes, big and small, that will allow him to look and feel like himself. With this newfound confidence, Chase feels ready to take on whatever the world throws at him and live as the man he has always been.
