Meet E

E (he/him) is a genderfluid student from Florida who has spent the last three years persistently seeking access to HRT, only to be met with closed doors. Trusted practitioners in his area have left the state, and every number he tries feels like a dead end. To be seen at all, E has had to drive hours across state lines just to get an appointment.

Balancing his education at a community college with significant financial strain, E lives paycheck to paycheck. Rent and student loan payments consume nearly all of his income, leaving him reliant on food banks and struggling to cover car expenses, medical bills, and occasional support for his mom. Insurance roadblocks in Florida make gender-affirming care feel out of reach.

For E, receiving 12 months of HRT support would mean finally accessing the care he has fought so long for. He shared, “It would allow me to obtain something I thought I would never have while also giving me the breathing room to focus on other financial struggles in my life.”
