Meet Jack

Jack's story
HRT Access Fund recipient
Jack (he/him) is a young trans man living at home in Florida with his single mother and two siblings. Though his parents are beginning to understand his goals, local policy and clinic availability have made care difficult: Planned Parenthood is the nearest option and is a two-hour trip from home, and without reliable transportation or someone able to drive him, he’s had to put HRT on hold—an absence he says has been detrimental to his well-being.
Financial barriers compound the access issues. Jack recently withdrew from college and works for about $13/hour, typically bringing in only a few hundred dollars a month after expenses; most paychecks are eaten by groceries and gas. He’s started therapy under his mom’s insurance, but continuing care and medication remain out of reach. “HRT would quiet the constant self-doubt I’ve faced my entire adulthood,” he shared.
