Joshua

Joshua's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Joshua (he/him) is a Hispanic trans man living in Florida. He began his hormone replacement therapy journey in 2005, but since moving to Florida, he has faced mounting barriers to consistent care. Discriminatory state policies and restrictive regulations have made it nearly impossible for him to find a provider, leaving him without the stability that HRT has long provided.

Alongside these challenges, Joshua is navigating treatment-resistant depression, CPTSD, and degenerative spinal disease, which limit his mobility and ability to work. He is currently awaiting a review of his Disability application and has been enduring a year without income. Despite these hardships, he remains committed to doing the hard work of intensive trauma therapy.

Joshua shared, “HRT has been a crucial source of stability in my life. Losing access to this care has been devastating. Receiving 12 months of support would ease my burden and allow me to focus on healing without the anxiety of losing my identity’s anchor.”
