Kaleb's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Kaleb (he/him) is a trans man and student who is actively involved in his program’s student organization. He is passionate about social change and advocating for those in need.

Kaleb has faced challenges with limited access to prescriptions, as insurance refuses to pay for both his mental health medications and testosterone. “Not being able to access my medication for my HRT and mental health causes me to experience major depressive thoughts, regressing socially so that I am self-isolating more and more,” he shared. A past surgery to remove a tumor from his face has also increased his dysphoria, making his transition feel out of reach at times.

For Kaleb, access to HRT and top surgery would mean being able to feel more comfortable in his own skin, reconnect with others, and gain the confidence to pursue new opportunities. “Help with HRT will help me avoid looking at my reflection, decrease my depressive thoughts, and increase my desire to meet new people. I will finally feel like people can see the person I truly am.”
