Larry's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Larry (he/him) is a transgender man who migrated to the U.S. from Mexico at age 11. Despite his determination, accessing HRT has remained out of reach: his insurance does not cover visits or medication, and past medical debt has made it impossible to afford care out of pocket.

Outside of these challenges, Larry enjoys movies, supporting his local library, and taking long walks with his camera—capturing trees, quiet streets, and everyday glimpses of nature. For him, HRT represents a chance to rebuild self-esteem and feel more at home in his body. Working in customer service often means enduring misgendering, but with access to care, Larry feels confident he will be able to hold onto himself regardless of others’ perceptions.
