Lyric's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Lyric (he/xe) is a proud single father of two, balancing the responsibilities of parenting with his own journey of self-discovery. When he was on HRT, xe finally felt aligned with who he truly is, but the high costs of medication and the overwhelming demands of raising children on his own forced him to stop treatment. Determined to hold onto that part of himself, Lyric resorted to ordering medication overseas just to get by. “No matter how heavy the road gets, I believe my light and my children’s light will always shine through,” he shared.

Lyric is more than his trans identity: he is a hands-on, devoted parent who spends his days playing with, guiding, and supporting his children. He’s also pursuing his degree through online classes while raising his kids, and he finds creative release through dance, using movement to express himself, heal, and inspire others.

Receiving gender-affirming healthcare would transform Lyric’s daily life, bringing back the confidence, energy, and peace of mind he needs to thrive. For him, HRT means not just survival, but wholeness—living authentically while being the strongest and most present father he can be.
