Michael's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Michael (he/him) is a 28-year-old transgender man who has been on HRT for several years. In the past, he struggled to access care locally, often traveling long distances only to be dismissed by doctors, and eventually turned to telehealth to receive consistent treatment. Now back in school pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies, Michael is focused on continuing his education without the constant stress of affording care.

An Episcopalian deeply involved in his church, Michael hopes to attend seminary after graduation. His goal is to show that Christianity and LGBTQ+ affirmation can and do coexist. Outside of school and church, he is also an artist and writer. “Being able to continue my HRT means I can pursue my education and responsibilities with less financial stress, without needing to pause my transition,” he shared.
