Mori's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Mori (he/him) is an 18-year-old high school student who has been locked out of reliable care after losing Medicaid. He lives in a tiny one-bedroom house with five other people and cannot drive or access transportation; his mother is unsupportive and his father is hostile, so asking family for help isn’t an option. With only emergency food and housing stability provided by limited child-support funds, Mori has spent months searching for any manageable path to gender-affirming care and found none.

Financial need is immediate and severe: Mori has essentially no savings, unstable food, and no local jobs within walking distance. Getting 12 months of HRT would be lifesaving, relieving crushing dysphoria and the daily mental-health crisis he describes, and giving him a chance to stabilize physically and emotionally. “I feel like I’m dying and HRT would genuinely save my life,” he shared.
