Nash's story

HRT Access Fund recipient

Nash (he/they) is an 18-year-old disabled transmasc person who has been seeking HRT since coming out at age 9. As the primary caregiver for his disabled veteran mother and younger brother since he was 12, Nash has faced significant challenges, including housing insecurity while escaping domestic abuse. Recently, his partner of four years, also experiencing housing instability, moved into the family home.

Despite these hardships, Nash remains a vibrant and active part of his community. With his mother’s support, he helps create a safe and welcoming space for his queer found family, often cooking meals, hosting gatherings, and fostering conversations on growth and current issues. He is also an artist who sells his work at shows and has recently begun exploring woodworking.

Nash is thrilled to finally begin HRT, something he has long known was essential for his mental health and self-expression. He shared, “I look forward to being able to walk around with more confidence in my identity, from my voice, to how I’m perceived. Having more masculine attributes to my body is essential to how I view myself and how I express it through my art, my fashion.”
