Meet Selene

Selene (she/her) has dreamed of starting HRT since she was 14, but financial and legislative barriers have kept her from accessing care. Growing up in Texas, every attempt she made to begin gender-affirming treatment was blocked—first by the need for parental consent, and later by restrictive laws that revoked access for minors just before her 16th birthday. Now, she’s determined to begin her transition despite the challenges.

Her family’s financial situation makes this path even harder. With her mother working weekends to make ends meet and no car or license to pursue steady work herself, Selene has had to put her plans on hold. She shared, “HRT has been a pipedream up till this opportunity.” Receiving support means finally turning that dream into reality and moving forward in her transition.
