Stream-a-Thon Raises More than $300K for Trans Health Care

Community & events

Marking its fifth year, Point of Pride’s Stream-a-Thon for Trans Health has raised over $300,000 to expand access to critical care for transgender people, with donations still coming in through the end of April.

Hosted by Mercury Stardust, the 30-hour event ran through midnight on March 31, Trans Day of Visibility. Nearly 4,000 donors contributed $310,000, averaging $30 each, with a record $25,000 single donation. Though the Stream-a-Thon has ended, contributions remain open all month.

The livestream featured a wide range of entertainment, including musical guests Rozbot, Damag3, and Rain McMey, alongside games, storytelling, and performances from jugglers, sword swallowers, comedians, and other special guests who celebrated trans joy and resilience. It also coincided with Point of Pride’s 10th anniversary. Since 2022, the annual event has raised more than $5 million to expand access to essential care.

Funds will support Point of Pride programs that expand access to essential, gender-affirming care, including hormone replacement therapy, electrolysis, shapewear, and gender-affirming surgeries for trans people facing financial barriers.

An estimated 2.8 million transgender adults live in the United States, representing a significant and diverse community. Many seek gender-affirming care to support their well-being, yet access remains limited due to systemic barriers. Nearly 30% experience poverty, making it even more difficult to afford necessary medical services, while ongoing legislative efforts in many states continue to restrict access to care. Research consistently shows that access to gender-affirming care can significantly improve mental health outcomes and overall quality of life, underscoring the importance of expanding availability.

“When we show up for one another, we create meaningful change,” said Jeff Main, Executive Director of Point of Pride. “Our annual Stream-a-Thon reflects the strength of our partnership with Mercury Stardust and this community’s generosity, helping thousands access care while celebrating trans joy and the ability to live freely and safely.”

“We’re incredibly moved by the support and compassion of our community,” said Aydian Dowling, Chief Advancement Officer of Point of Pride. “Together, we are changing lives every day and expanding access to the life-saving care trans people deserve, no matter where they live.”

Point of Pride's mission is to help trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services. To date, Point of Pride has awarded $6,378,000 in financial aid and provided gender-affirming support to 30,000 people in all 50 states and around the world.
