Point of Pride Awards $301,250 in Electrolysis Support Fund to 140 Recipients

Point of Pride is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Electrolysis Support Fund, with 140 individuals receiving a total of $301,250+ in financial assistance for gender-affirming electrolysis and laser hair removal services. This support will provide life-changing access to permanent hair removal services that recipients otherwise could not afford.
Key statistics from this year’s recipients:
- 93% of recipients are trans femme.
- 2 in 3 recipients are people of color.
- 2 in 3 recipients are living with a disability or chronic illness.
- 1 in 2 recipients are living in states for considered mid- to high-risk for anti-trans legislation.
- 4 in 5 recipients have dealt with housing insecurity, either now or in the past.
- 18% of recipients are trans young people ages 18-24.
- 15% of recipients are over the age of 45.
- 2 in 3 have dealt with discrimination from a healthcare provider, either now or in the past.
- 3 in 4 have dealt with discrimination from an employer, either now or in the past.
- 1 in 4 have experienced incarceration.
“Electrolysis and laser hair removal are too often treated as optional, cosmetic, or unimportant. But for so many trans people, this care is essential. It’s about safety as much as it is affirmation,” said Tyler Rodriguez, Director of Programs at Point of Pride. “We remain committed to serving the most marginalized members of our community—people who are so often denied basic dignity—and helping them access this necessary care that affirms who they are.”
