Video Guidelines
Your voice is a powerful tool for creating change, and by sharing your story with us, you’re helping to inspire others and bring visibility to the trans community.
These guidelines will help you record your video and audio content: please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for being part of Point of Pride's mission!
First things first...
Avoid Interruptions or Distractions
Make sure your phone is fully charged or plugged in to avoid interruptions. Find a place to record that doesn't have a lot of background noise.
Test Your Video and Audio
Record a short clip to make sure everything sounds and looks good before starting your full recording.
Practice Makes Better
Don’t be afraid to do multiple takes until you’re happy with the result. It’s also not required to be "perfect." Your authenticity is more important!

Find Good Lighting:
- Position yourself in natural light or a well-lit space.
- Avoid backlighting (bright light behind you) to keep your face clear.
Use a Stable Surface or Tripod:
- Place your phone on a flat surface or use a phone stand/tripod for steady recording.
- If holding your phone, use both hands and remain standing or seated in one place to reduce shaking.

Clean Your Camera Lens:
- Wipe your phone’s camera lens with a soft cloth for a clearer image.

Positioning
- Use vertical mode for social videos.

Framing:
- Use vertical mode for social videos.
- Ensure your face is centered in the frame with a little space above and around your head.
- Eye level is ideal for a flattering and natural look.
Record in Short Segments:
- If you’re not comfortable recording everything in one take, record in smaller segments, and we can edit them together.
