2018 Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference Recap

The Point of Pride team had a blast at this year’s Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference!

As always, it was so wonderful to share a space with thousands of transgender/gender non-conforming folks and our allies – we enjoyed meeting so many of you, hearing your stories, and helping connect you with different support services and resources.

Throughout the conference, we collected and donated free chest binders and breast forms/bras at our booth – special thanks to all who donated their binders! Thanks to your support and our sponsor gc2b, we gave away dozens of free binders, many of whom went to trans youth who never owned a binder before.

Other highlights from the event:

• our amazing raffles, which raised close to $1,000 – we raffled off free round trip airfare tickets via Southwest Airlines, an amazing handmade quilt, an acoustic guitar autographed by Skylar Kergil and Jaimie Wilson, and lots of other great prizes
• our Panera Bread fundraiser – we had a blast eating and mingling with y’all for this #foodiefundraiser
• our letter-writing station – we encouraged folks at the conference to leave handwritten notes of support, which we will mail to our chest binder program recipients in all fifty states and around the world. It was moving to see hundreds of heartfelt notes of support being created at our table
• participating in sessions – many of us had an opportunity to sit in on some of the great informative sessions going on across the conference. Our Board Treasurer Rob also lead two presentations about preparing your body physically before and after surgery!

We are already counting down the days til next year. 🙂
