CGF Coordinator (Volunteer)

Point of Pride is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps trans youth and adults access necessary, life-saving health and wellness services; we do this through financial aid and gender-affirming direct service. To support our financial aid programs, we rely on Community Grantmaking Fellows (CGFs), or specially-trained volunteers that review applications for support. Over the last few years, this program has grown significantly: now, we are seeking a volunteer to join our team as a CGF Coordinator.

In this role, you’ll serve as a communications liaison between Point of Pride staff and CGFs. You’ll also foster a nurturing, positive Discord community of CGFs, ensuring that our members feel ongoing appreciation for their important contributions and a deeper sense of connection to the people they’re helping.

Get ready to:

  • Support and guide existing CGFs. Our CGFs are an invaluable resource in our grantmaking work: you’ll recognize and appreciate their efforts, helping them feel valued and motivated. You’ll lead the development of our existing Discord channel into a true community by interacting with volunteers and driving opportunities for more communication, interaction, and engagement. As volunteers have questions, concerns, or require assistance, you’ll guide them to help them stay on track with educational training and review period deadlines.
  • Build up our community of volunteers. In collaboration with Point of Pride team members, you’ll identify opportunities to recruit new volunteers. Once onboarded, you’ll help ensure a smooth and welcoming process for new volunteers.
  • Improve processes that help us better serve our applicants. You’ll collect and communicate feedback received from CGFs. In collaboration with the Director of Programs, you’ll assess that information to help identify opportunities for improvement.

We are looking for people who:

  • Possess excellent, empathetic communication skills to effectively convey instructions, solicit and provide feedback, and interact with volunteers
  • Possess excellent time management and organizational abilities to manage communication schedules and tasks efficiently
  • Are passionate about healthcare access, healthcare equity, and issues that impact the trans community

Our ideal candidate:

  • Is a current student/recent graduate or has a strong background in nonprofit management, social work, psychology, communication, or public administration
  • Has familiarity of diverse groups of people, especially issues and topics affecting trans youth, elders, unhoused people, and people living with a disability or chronic illness
  • Has prior or current experience building an online community as a moderator or facilitator (i.e., reddit, Discord)
  • Has prior or current experience as a CGF, or as a volunteer for another organization
  • Has experience working remotely and across time zones
  • Is familiar with project management tools or software – knowledge of Basecamp a plus

Details

  • Location: Fully remote
  • Total hours: Most weeks, your time commitment will be about 2-3 hours. During a handful of select weeks, your commitment may be higher, not to exceed 8 hours a week. In total, we anticipate you’ll contribute 75 hours over a 6-month period.
  • Flexible scheduling: You may choose when and how you allocate your hours per week.
  • Minimum commitment: We request a commitment of 6 months in this role, with an option to renew after the initial 6 months. (If you are currently an existing CGF, you are not expected to review applications during this time.)
  • Start date: March 25, 2024

How to apply: Please use the form on this page.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply—we’d love to hear from you.
